[HMG Celebrity News] ? We recently reported how American Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino attempted suicide after the wife of her lover, Antwaun Cook discovered their affair. Now she claims she was also pregnant by him, and had an abortion.
The new facts came to light as the 26-year old singer was giving evidence in a North Carolina court-room yesterday, during divorce proceedings brought by Cook?s wife, Paula.
Prosecutors pressed Barrino on whether she knew Cook was still living with Paula when she began the affair. She said that and Cook dated ?on and off? for 11-months, but she believed he was separated.
But Paula?s lawyers then focused on a hotel meeting that happened less than a week after the pair first met.
?Paula?s lawyer is arguing they got the room because she knew he was still married,? a witness told Radar.
The affair was exposed after Fantasia got the name ?Cook? tattooed on her neck in honor of Antwaun. And despite the scathingly bad press the affair since created she?s still dating Cook.
?Paula is not doing too well, having to hear all this in court and replay it all over? She?s emotionally worn out,? one source close to the plaintiff told reporters.
In a court complaint filed in August, Paula named Fantasia as ?a home-wrecker.? This led to an alleged suicide attempt, which Barrino now claims to regret.
?I just wanted to be away from the noise,? she said at the time.
The attempt was widely panned as a stunt, and reports by Paramedics who attended the scene seem to support that;
??Her injuries were not life threatening,? one technician is quoted as saying. ?She was dehydrated, that?s all.?
Barrino has also admitted she got pregnant by her married lover Cook and had an abortion around the time of her failed suicide attempt
And the ?noise? is about to return ? Cook?s wife, Paula is now planning to sue Barrino under the rarely-used ?Alienation of Affections? law.
Introduced in 1864 as a Tort law, ?Alienation of Affections? allows an abandoned spouse to sue the person they consider responsible for the death of their marriage. It?s only legal in seven states, but unfortunately for Barrino, North Carolina is one of them.
On November 1st, Fantasia and Paula met with their lawyers and tried to settle the case. But after 12-hours they got nowhere, so it might now proceed to a trial.
We?ll keep you advised what happens next?
