Melissa Gilbert, who played the character of Laura Ingalls in the western drama test series ?Little House on the Prairie,? has a mini drama to deal with in her own personal life.
The Associated Press reported that the 47-year old actress is looking to end her 16-year marriage with husband Bruce Boxleitner after five months of separation.
She filed her court papers earlier this week and she mentioned ?irreconcilable differences? as the reason why she is seeking the divorce. She wants to have joint custody of their teenage son Michael Boxleitner, who was named after ?Little House on the Prairie? showrunner Michael Landon.
Earlier this year, she said, ?We have loved each other for a very long time and we share four incredible sons together.?
Apart from Michael, she has another son named Dakota from her relationship with actor Bo Brinkman. She also has two stepsons named Sam and Lee from Boxleitner?s previous marriage to another show business personality Kathryn Ogilvy.
People magazine reported that Melissa?s sister Sarah Gilbert has also broken up with her lesbian love interest Allison Adler. The 36-year old talk show host will be sharing the custody of their children.
Thanks to her appearances in more than 45 tv movies and miniseries, Melissa is widely known as the ?Queen of television movies and mini-series.?
Among her former beaus, the names of Rob Lowe, John Cusack, Billy Idol and Tom Cruise stand out the most.
