Amy Winehouse?s ?Back to Black? Back in Business

After Amy Winehouse?s untimely death on July 23, her sophomore album ?Back to Black,? which was released in 2006, has found its way in Billboard 200 once again.

Her death stirred up public interest in her music once again and her last week?s album sales in the US touched the 37,000 mark. This means that ?Back to Black? will now penetrate the top 10 Billboard album charts with a ninth place re-entry.

Data regarding Back to Black?s recent market performance has been provided by Nielsen SoundScan. Interest in Winehouse?s debut disc titled ?Frank? was also high as it sold 7,000 copies last week with a large chunk of them being digital downloads.

Before the Rehab-singer?s death, Back to Black?s sales were waning, which is understandable as it was released more than five years ago.

Amy Winehouse?s ?Back to Black? Back in BusinessSoon after its release, British tabloid Telegraph?s Helen Brown gave ?Back to Black? a glowing review and stated, Back to Black sees a triumphant Winehouse slamming the door on those laid-back lounge influences and strutting into a gloriously ballsy, bell-ringing bottle-swigging doo-wop territory.?

She had further added, ?Living with raw conviction through the emotional experience of each song on Back to Black, Winehouse proves herself a true urban diva.?

Another interesting piece of statistics extracted from Nelson?s data is that 110,000 of Winehouse?s songs were digitally sold last week, which highlights an increase of 2,000% from the preceding week.

Winehouse passed away at her London residence last Saturday after struggling with drug and alcohol problems for a number of years.
