Ortis Williams has become an ambassador for the MS Society and is auctioning off his belongings to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis charity. From the age of 12 Ortis has helped to look after his mother, who developed the disease, which is a disorder of the brain and spinal cord.

Opening up about this time in his life, toThe Sun,he said, ?I felt scared and alone because I never really knew what it was or how it would impact our lives. I was the oldest and soon became the man of the house and my mum's carer. I also had to take care of my two brothers and little sister who was 3 at the time.

"I would do the school run in the morning, make dinner at night and everything in between. I grew up fast - but I had to get on with it, just like every one of the 175,000 young carers in the UK today."

He continued, ?I felt like I was carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. That's why, when I got the chance to put JLS together, I worked my socks off to make my mum proud of me and fulfil our dreams.

"The MS Society is the UK's largest charity dedicated to people affected by MS. They provide a free helpline, fund vital research and offer information and support to people affected by MS."

They also do a lot of work with young people who care for relatives and now have a special Guide For Young Carers. This is why I am auctioning off some of my prized possessions for them - to help them continue their great work.

"I've been meeting carers involved with the MS Society backstage at our shows. It's been emotional meeting young people who are going through exactly what I was but it keeps me grounded. I like to think I'm taking their minds off what's happening at home, even just for one night.?
