Gwen Stefani retires from solo music career

Gwen Stefani retires from solo music careerIn a shocker, Gwen Stefani told Entertainment Weekly in this week?s issue that her blockbuster solo career is all but done.

Suggesting that her solo career was intended to be just a brief flirtation, she says it lasted more than the 15 minutes of fame it was supposed to bring.

?That was a moment in time,? Stefani told EW. ?It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to go with wherever you?re at in that time in your life ? [But] everything works out how it should.?

Stefani broke into the music scene as the lead vocalist for rock band No Doubt. Churning out hits like Don?t Speak. But she took a break in 2004 to release her own album Love. Angel. Music. Baby, and followed that by her sophomore effort The Sweet Escape in 2006.

Despite scoringplatinumstatus and sellout tours, Stefani seems all but done. With children in tow, who can blame her.

But it?s been nearly two years since No Doubt performed together, much less released an album. She teased that the band will announce future plans in a statement on Friday.
