It?s the story that keeps on giving. Previously axed from the upcoming US version of X Factor, reports are swirling that Cheryl Cole is actually back on the show ? as a judge, as originally intended.
Initially sources were saying that Cole was let go because (1) she didn?t have chemistry with other judget Paula Abdul, and (2) her accent would be hard to understand by the American audience. It was then believed co-host andformer Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger would take over the remaining spot. The other judges being record executive LA Reid and Simon Cowell.
That is until today Radaronline is saying that Cowell was upset about Cole?s firing and basically demanded the producers put her back on the judging panel.
But TMZ seems to have a more interesting tale ? and it?s all about the benjamins. It?s true that Cole was asked to leave the U.S. edition of X Factor and go back to the UK version, but her managers asked for2.5 million for her to return. High price tag, no? The deal went nowhere and Cole was left without a job.
What?s more interesting is her contract for the U.S. show is around $1.5 million and it?s guaranteed, meaning she gets the money whether she does the show or not. So allegedly the producers don?t want to waste their money and want her involved in some way, and it seems like the only way is to have her judge. The situation remains sticky though; it?s unclear if Cole has actually accepted to come back.
Audition starts next week; the show premieres in September on Fox.
