It's all change once again at the top of the U.S. box office as X-Men: First Class has snatched the top spot from The Hangover Part II.

First Class is the first X-Men movie since Wolverine graced the big screen two summers ago - but this time around Matthew Vaughn is in the director's chair.

In 1962, Charles Xavier starts up a school and later a team, for humans with superhuman abilities.

Among them is Erik Lensherr, his best friend... and future archenemy.

The movie took $56 million in it's opening weekend to topple comedy The Hangover Part II at the top of the box office.

The Hangover Part II took a further $32.4 million to slip just a single place to number two.

Kung Fu Panda, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Bridesmaids were also all down one place at three, four and five.

Thor fell out of the top five this week but the movie has taken $169 million in the U.S. alone. The Marvel movie has now taken in excess of $423 million at the global box office.

With X-Men: First Class being the only new entry in the chart this week movies 6-10 had all slipped just a single place.
